The User File Maintenance program is used to add, change or delete users. This program sets up access to both the Oracle database and the SDC application. The user running this program must be an administrator and must be assigned the following Oracle security roles prior to running this program (see your Oracle DBA for this).
connect with admin option,
create session with admin option,
alter session with admin option,
create public synonym,
drop public synonym,
create role,
alter any role,
alter user,
create user,
drop user.
The following programs must be completed before users can be entered into the system:
gb0200 Language File
Maintenance
gb4600 Printer File
Maintenance
gb0300 Warehouse
File Maintenance
gb5700 Branch File
Maintenance
All programs using default or restriction values will use the information entered.
Note: In order for changes on this program to get implemented, ther user needs to log off and log on to the SDC system.
Enter the name of the user. The format for this is "ops$user-name". This is the name the user will use to log into the system with. For example, ops$barb is the log in name for the user barb. The default values entered apply only to this user. If new record is being entered, pop-up window will appear.
Pop-up window "Database Connect Info":
Enter the associated employee number if user is also an employee. The employee number is checked and validated against the Employee Master Maintenance (GB0090). It is strongly recommended that one employee number should only be associated one username to avoid unpredictable result when this information is used. This is used when the system requires the employee number of the currently login user in order to complete the user requested task from the system. An example of where this information is used is when entering vacation request, leave of absence request (loa), sick day and shift trades. The system requires this information to complete in order for an employee to be able to post these types of transactions. The system takes the employee number of the logged in user to the SDC software and post these requests against that employee. The system will automatically display the employee name beside the employee name. The employee name is a hyperlink field so that when the field is clicked the system will bring up the Employee Master Maintenance (GB0090) and display the employee information for the corresponding employee.
Enter the name database connected.
Press this button to enter database connection information. This button is only visible if a new user is created.
Enter a password for the new record.
Check if the user will access application through web browser.
Enter the warehouse code that will be the default warehouse for this user. Any program that prompts for the warehouse code will default to each users default warehouse code set up in this program. The warehouse codes themselves are set up using gb0300 Warehouse File Maintenance. A list of values is available.
Enter the default printer for this user. The printer must exist on the Printer Table. If you would like reports dumped to your vt200 compatible terminal (compressed 132 characters per line), enter screen132. If you would like reports dumped to your terminal in 80-character format, enter screen80. If you would like reports dumped to a disk file without printing, type disk. A list of values is available.
Enter the language code that the user will be working in. For example, if the user will be working in the French version of the product the language code `fr' should be entered. The system will then display the full description, in this case `French'. A list of values is available for the language codes.
Enter user operating system. Normally this would be the same for all users. In client/server environment you might have clients running different operating systems accessing the same database.
Enter user's SDC application role. An example might be ap-clerk. This allows you to group users together for security purposes. See Program Access Maintenance (gb5300) for relating program access codes to security restrictions.
Enter user's SDC database role. This item is optional and is used to limit what table data the user can see when using SDC’s web-based Ad hoc query tool (dd1000).
A user can only see table and column data that has been defined for the Database Role. See Table Access Maintenance (gb5320) for defining table access codes.
Enter a General Ledger branch number that will be the default for this user. The G/L branch numbers are set up using gb5700 G/L Branch File Maintenance.
Please enter the requisition approval limit. This limit will be used in PO8300 Requisition Approval. User will not be allowed to approve requisition with total exceeding the limit. Leave blanks if no limit is needed.
Enter drive and directory to save SDC report files to. This directory is used whenever you print to a SDC Printer that has its Disk Flag set to X.
Enter the directory code. This refers to Directory Code Maintenance (gb0150) which specifies Dynamic 3i install directories. The default company-wide directory code is setup using Global Maintenance (gb0100).
Enter the menu id code. This can either be a custom menu id (see gb4290) or a default startup menu name. For example you may want a user to automatically have the Inventory menu displayed (inmenu) when they log in. In this case enter inmenu as the menu identity.
Enter the display role. This is a free format code that can be assigned to users. It works in conjunction with the ‘edit forms’ capability if the software and is similar to the application role assignment. As an example: If a display code of APCLERK were defined and then this user made application screen changes, then by assigning the same display role (APCLERK) to other users, they would also see the same screen changes.
Enter the report server.
Enter the Apex Startup application.
Account status is displayed.
Displays the date the account was locked.
Displays the date the account expired.
Check or uncheck this checkbox to lock or unlock an account.
If check box checked the password will never expire.
Check this box to force password to be changed the next time the user logs into the SDC software. When this box is checked, the account status will be flagged as expired, expire date will be populated and account status will show as expired, so the next time the user logs into SDC software he will be asked to enter a new password but it will also be require the old password to be entered for security reason.
If check box checked the programs will be audited.
Check this box to allow the user to edit the screen layout of an application. Given security to do so, the user may remove, change prompts and re-position fields on an application screen. See Application Screen Customization (Edit Forms)
Check this box if user is allowed to increase priority of batch request either in Reschedule Job Requests (BP0300) or when submitting job to batch.
Check this box if user should see getting started window when they first enter the software.
Check this box if you wish to have an alert appear asking you to save any changes that will be lost if you continue with action you have just executed such as exiting a program without saving any changes you did. Leaving box unchecked will automatically erase any unsaved changes and let you continue your action without being prompted with any questions. The only exception is the clear form button which will ask if you want to save changes and if so it will verify all data is valid and then save changes. Additionally if box is unchecked the clear record button will disappear from your toolbar and you must use clear form or delete record to clear the record.
Check this box if you want Oracle to not force mandatory fields to be entered as you navigate through the fields. In previous releases Oracle would always force a mandatory field to be entered as you navigate through the fields unless you did previous field. Doing previous field was useful in situations where field Y validation relied on its previous field X value and you entered the wrong value in field X. You used to be able to do previous field out of field Y to correct field X as long as you left field Y null. This can not be done any longer unless this flag is turned on. With flag turned off your only alternative is to clear the record and start over again. The drawback of having this flag turned on is that program will not force you to enter mandatory fields as you tab through them because this validation is only done at the record level.
Check this box if this user is going to be an administrator. Setting this flag will allow this user to change other users to be administrators in this program and also allow user to run gb4550 Table Row Locking Inquiry.
Check this box if this user is restricted to a limited number of programs.
Press this button to get to limited programs window if user is a limited user.
Enter the programs this limited user is allowed to use.
Enter any other warehouses where this user has access. Press [List Values] for a list of warehouses
Enter any other branches.
