Non-bin to bin control and vice versa. Non-lot to lot control and vice versa. Lot control to lot and bin control.. Bin control to lot and bin control. In virtually all of the above or any variation, the key to switching the inventory control method of an item is to have 0 on-hand of the item being switched. If there is no on-hand qty. of an item, then the ‘Lot flag’ selection on the Stock Master Maintenance – in0200 can be changed. If not then an Inventory Adjustment – in2400 must be done. Example: If an item is currently Non-bin controlled and you wish to set it to bin controlled then the quantity of the item needs to have a bin assignment done to it. In order to do this type of switch an Inventory adjustment must be made to bring the inventory level of the item down to zero. Once this is complete then you must use the Stock Master Maintenance and select and save the ‘Lot Flag’ as ‘Bin Controlled’. You can then do another Inventory Adjustment for the item where in the entry of a bin location will be required. If physical or logical warehouses are being used then the use of the Inter warehouse transfers (One-Step - in3900 or Mulit-step in31- in3400) could also be utilized. Eg. An item could be lot controlled in one warehouse and lot AND bin controlled in another. Using the Inter warehouse transfer processes the shipment of the lot-controlled warehouse will mandate a lot number and then the receipt of the item in the lot-bin warehouse will require the additional bin assignment. |
